As Keith would say… WA-HOO!!!
For years I’ve been wanting to do a full-length graphic novel with my boys, The 3 Geeks, but other projects always seemed to get in the way. I was able to sate my passion with a few smaller projects with the boys along the way, but the time for the full-on GN is NIGH!
The Outline of the story is done. I am now in the process of breaking down the Outline into a detailed script. This usually goes very quickly for me–1-2 weeks. Then it’s Thumbnailing the entire script, which is usually a few days. Penciling, Inking, Lettering and Coloring is the BIG job. That process will take a few months…
BUT…and here’s the extra exciting part of this announcement…
I have recruited the amazing and talented Stella Rose Koslowski to assist me on this endeavor! You longtime readers may recall that some of Stella’s early work as an artist has already appeared in an issue of The 3 Geeks! I believe she was 1 1/2 years old… She would sit on my left knee while I worked on the comics and draw away! In this case it was on little yellow post-it notes. She did her renditions of the characters–Keith, Jim, Allen and many of the side characters like Sky and Uncle Jim. If memory serves, these littel gems appeared in the “Full Circle” Summer Special.
Fast forward 23 1/2 years and young Stella (now far too big to sit on my left knee) is still drawing away, having just received her MASTER’S DEGREE in Art and Art History from Sotheby’s in London.
She grew up with Keith, Jim and Allen so she knows them almost as well as I do. So when I proposed doing a story together, and she embraced the idea, the magic started happening!
Together, we fleshed out the new story from fragments of ideas I’ve had bouncing around for years. NO Spoilers yet! I hate spoilers. But let me just say that we were laughing out loud while writing the outline, so I’m pretty sure we’ve got a winner.
I have the cover art done. I did it in 2 days! That’s how motivated we are to get this book done. The cover idea was 100% Stella’s idea and I am thrilled with it. This is the only “tease” I’ll be showing until we launch the Kickstarter. I’m hoping the launch goes live by this Fall of 2026.
